FAQs cuz I can’t sleep

I have several things on my mind this evening, and it’s been awhile since I’ve had a sleepless night so I guess it’s my turn.

Ive been contemplating for days if I wanted to do an FAQ post since my group is growing: and a sleepless night seems to be a great time for it.

———-

1) Why do I I sell more in the facebook group than my webpage?

Community. I like working with people one on one. I like getting to know them and what they like. My website is available to show inventory but my group is where it’s at. Also the gets discounted pricing; so join if you haven’t yet.

2) Why so many dolls and where are the dogs?

I have no idea! I didn’t plan on selling dolls but it just happened. I have so many dog sewing plans but timing isn’t there yet for me. It will happen when it’s supposed to.

3) Why Coco and Theodore when you already work two jobs?

It’s true. I work too much. I worked for my dad doing AutoCad work after my husband passed away. The job really plummeted during the pandemic so I had to begin door dashing to supplement income. It was hard and I took a couple of tumbles down steps and such. When an opportunity opened to work for the state in their engineering department as a tech, I couldn’t pass it up. I needed income, insurance and retirement.

While the state job is perfect for me and very flexible with my single parent lifestyle, it doesn’t pay quite enough for me to make ends meet. So I kept working for dad but since his business had slowed to a trickle ( I was working like 8-10 hours a month for him is all) , I still needed a bit more income, and also figuring dad would soon retire ( he’s in his 80s), I established Coco and Theodore.

Well the pandemic calmed. Dad has way too much work to retire. And here I am doing the juggle because I refuse to give up my shop. Some weeks I don’t work at all for my dad and some weeks like this last one, I clocked about 75 hours between all three jobs. ( which is why I should be exhausted and able to sleep at the moment!)

After I purchased dolls, my shop started gaining momentum very quickly. So for the moment I’m just flying by the seat of my pants and doing it all! I still figure at 83, surely my dad will retire soon. Who knows?! The income is helping me build the doll shop so it’s all working out for the moment( other than I can’t find time to sew.)

3) Where is Stephen and why isn’t he making as much product?

When I got my job at the state it just made things harder in the time category. At that same time he joined the Civil Air Patrol so between my job juggling ( more chores for him), and his flying around he’s just got way less time on his hands. And like any young person, as he grows his school work load does too.

4) The game plan?

I still have a dream of a store front. I envision a big store with dolls and clothing on one side, accessories for dog, human and doll in the middle and dog stuff on the other side. For dolls I envision having all of one kind on display with their clothing shown next to them.

On the dog side I envision harnesses and hoodies, dresses, diapers and coats.

Ive been envisioning it for so long now. If I played the lottery then maybe I could open it with my big winnings some day. But since I don’t play…I guess I’ll just stick with daydreaming about what my shop would look like.

I actually am considering maybe someday getting a house with space for a showroom and offer holiday open houses. I think this is my favorite idea of all. And I think it’s feasible too.

There is a house near me for sale that fits the bill perfectly. I wish.

Any other questions? I’m happy to answer them!
